She was standing outside and all of a sudden all of these dragonflies appeared and flew around her for a few minutes and then disappeared as soon as they came. “This wombman is magical! We met in the Berkshires, while I was visiting the States. On a cold snowy day in January 2018, I was traveling from NYC by Metro North train to attend a woman’s gathering at Race Brook Lodge where I had worked some years before. The organizer of the gathering arranged for Jaguar to meet me at the train, her only description being “she looks like mother earth” - easy to spot in the parking lot after most other passengers had already been received.
She greeted me with a warm hug and infectious laugh.
Some hours later while we were sitting on the floor setting up some things for the event, our small talk began to reveal the shared connections we had at the ashram where I’d been living the last bunch of years in Haridwar. Right away I could sense we had an old connection, past life journeys together, which made our friendship develop with ease.
I had the privilege of assisting Jaguar facilitate a yoni steam for nearly 50 women. As a queer gender non-conforming person, who had also never heard of yoni steaming before, I was quite hesitant to participate, not feeling so connected to my womb or yoni. I was so relieved to be just refilling women’s pots of hot water. I was even more relaxed to witness how she presented everything in a very inclusive and queer accessible way, reminding us that our womb is the creative power in us, not just for birthing babies but for birthing our life’s purpose. Her description of the process and ability to hold space for such a diverse group of women made me feel safe, where as often in such spaces I don’t.
Within weeks she decided to join me in India. After some days at the ashram she facilitated my yoni steam on a new moon, having brought a special blend of herbs and suggested I also gather some flowers from the ashram garden. After mixing the herbs and flowers with her hands, chanting mantras, she gave me the instructions and left me in my room to steam in private. I found it amazing how the process brought me so much clarity on some questions I had in my mind, aiding in a decision I needed to make in the future and empowering me to assert my boundaries with someone I had been in conflict.
We left the next day for the Kumbh Mela in Allahabad, spent 12 days there then a week in Varanasi. She fit in to every environment I brought her with openness and grace as if she had been there before.
Since then she has been one of my go to people. Always emotionally supportive and speaking the truth, holding up the mirror to me with as much hard honesty as compassion and love. I always feel better after our talks.”
